A Busy Month at 3030 Broadmoor Ln.

Flower Mound Public Library is not taking the summer slow. Between a live reptile display, a weekly art series tied to the Summer Reading Challenge, and ongoing storytime sessions for the youngest patrons, the branch at 3030 Broadmoor Ln. has programmed nearly every week in June with something free and hands-on for local families.

If you have kids at home and are looking for low-cost ways to keep them engaged between now and the Fourth of July, the library’s schedule is worth bookmarking.

Reptiles ‘Round the World — June 9, 2:00–3:45 PM

The headliner this month arrives on Monday, June 9, when the Austin Reptile Show brings live animals — snakes, turtles, and lizards — into the library for a presentation called Reptiles ‘Round the World.

The event runs from 2:00 to 3:45 PM and is free, but ticketed. Entry is staggered, with groups admitted every 15 minutes starting at 2:00 PM. That structure matters practically: it keeps the space from getting overwhelmed and gives each group a more focused look at the animals on display.

Details on how to secure a ticket are available through the Town of Flower Mound’s newsflash page at flowermound.gov. If your child has been through the library’s dinosaur art sessions (more on those below) and has developed a taste for anything prehistoric or cold-blooded, this is the logical next stop.

Library Art Shop — Every Monday in June, 2:00–4:00 PM

The library’s Art Shop series is back for the summer, and this year it is running with a dinosaur theme tied to the Summer Reading Challenge, “Unearth a Story.”

Every Monday in June, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM, the library provides supplies so visitors can create a project on-site without spending anything. The sessions are drop-in friendly — no pre-registration is mentioned — and the materials are covered.

That covers four consecutive Mondays: June 2, June 9, June 16, and June 23. The June 9 date lands on the same day as the Reptiles ‘Round the World display, so a family could reasonably do the art session and then stay for the reptile event later that afternoon, since both are at the same address.

The dinosaur framing gives each session a built-in theme without requiring any prior knowledge or preparation from participants. Bring the kids, make something, and walk out with a finished project — that is the straightforward pitch.

Preschool and Baby Storytime — Tuesdays Throughout the Month

For the library’s youngest visitors, Tuesday mornings remain a consistent option. The Children’s Program Room hosts two separate storytime sessions each week:

  • Preschool Storytime at 9:30 AM, designed for children ages 3 to 5
  • Baby Storytime at 11:00 AM, for babies who are not yet walking

Entry passes for both sessions are available at the Children’s Desk. The Tuesday, June 9 sessions are confirmed on the library’s event calendar, and the recurring format suggests the schedule holds through the rest of the month.

The age separation is useful. Parents of infants do not have to navigate a room set up for older preschoolers, and the 9:30 slot gives preschool-aged kids a morning activity before the heat of a Flower Mound June afternoon sets in.

How It All Fits Together

Taken as a whole, the library’s June lineup reflects a consistent approach: free admission, structured but accessible formats, and programming spread across different age groups.

For families planning multiple visits

The weekly Monday Art Shop sessions create a built-in rhythm. If you are already bringing a child to the library on Mondays for the dinosaur art, you have a reliable anchor for the week. The June 9 reptile display adds a one-time event to that same day, and the Tuesday storytime sessions give younger siblings their own separate track.

Registration and logistics

The Reptiles ‘Round the World event is the only one explicitly described as requiring a ticket. The Art Shop sessions and Tuesday storytimes operate through the Children’s Desk or the library’s standard drop-in process. Checking flowermound.gov or the library’s event portal at fmlibrary.libnet.info before heading out is the safest approach, particularly for the reptile event where timed entry means space is not unlimited.

Flower Mound Public Library sits at 3030 Broadmoor Ln. All events described here are free. For the full June calendar and any registration links, visit flowermound.gov or the library’s event system directly.
